After 20-years of working as a manufacturer’s representative, Stephen Petersonenvisioned taking his customers to a new level of service excellence. His vision was to offer his current customers a number of services to complement his product portfolio; services ranging from product development to custom converting.
In 2004, Stephen purchased an existing material distribution company, mainly stocking corrugated plastic and pressure-sensitive vinyl. In addition, he purchased a slitter, a manual sheeter, an SHM and a power cutter. Since 2004, the manual sheeter has long been retired and replaced with world-class converting equipment, the corrugated plastic division was sold and products have moved from commodity products to specialized, application-driven and innovative solutions.
Xcel moved beyond traditional products and began partnering with a wide-range of raw-material resources. Expanding our resource network enabled Xcel to begin designing and formulating products that are unique, application-driven and more environmentally responsible.
Equipment and products are important part of the equation, but Stephen considers his Xcel Team his greatest asset. Realizing that even he cannot be in all places at one time, Stephen looks for his Management Team to possess entrepreneurial personalities that he can empower, provide direction, and trust them move company initiatives forward. Xcel’s Management Team is comprised of diverse aptitudes and considered the industry’s best in each of their fields of expertise. Xcel is proud of each of its employees and the talents each possess. Each team member contributes their own unique knowledge base, aptitude, and creativeness. We consider our successes the result of the collaborative effort of our Xcel Products Team.
Since opening its doors, Xcel has grown from shipping product regionally to shipping product internationally.
